- This pioneering archive has been been serving the online physics community
since 1991. It is now one of the largest preprint archives in the world.
You will not find a lot of CFD papers here, but it includes sections covering
CFD related topics like fluid
dynamics and computational
physics. If you haven't visited this site before you should definitely
check it out. It plays a leading role in changing how scientific results
will be published in the future.
- DOE OSTI E-print Network
- A searchable e-print network for preprints related to energy research.
You can find a lot of full-text CFD papers from all over the world here.
Very good!
- Preprints on Conservation Laws
- Papers on conservation laws and related equations. The main focus is on
mathematical analysis and numerical methods.

These links can be useful if you know what you are looking for, or have
an incomplete reference. More and more sites now offer full-text publications
for download.
- DOE OSTI Information Bridge
- A searchable database of full-text documents from the DOE. Very good!
- DOE OSTI Energy Citations Database
- A searchable database with publications from the Department of Energy.
Many papers are available directly online. Good!
- AIAA Electronic Library Search
- A searchable database with all AIAA papers. You can view the first page
of most papers in pdf format. If you want you can also order paper copies
directly online. Nice!
- Army High Performance Computing Research Center Preprints
- Contains short summaries.
- ICASE Technical Reports
- Search for ICASE reports. You can find a lot of CFD related papers here,
mainly focused on numerics. The database includes full papers in PostScript
or PDF format - very nice!
- NASA Langley Technical Report Server
- Publications from NASA Langley - includes many CFD papers. Most documents
are available in full versions in PostScript or PDF format - very nice!
- NASA Glenn Research Center Technical Reports
- Technical reports, papers and publications from NASA Glenn Research Center
(formerly NASA Lewis). The database now includes full documents in PDF format
for many recent reports - very nice! You can find a lot of CFD papers related
to aerospace and turbomachinery applications here.
- NASA Dryden Technical Report Server
- Publications from NASA Dryden, includes full text PDF versions of many
documents.
- NAS Technical Reports
- Many CFD related papers focused on visualization problems.
- NASA Technical Report Server (NTRS)
- Thousands of papers related to CFD. Many available directly online in full
text.Very good!
Books
- CFD Books Guide
- A guide to CFD literature. Includes descriptions, excerpts and user reviews
to aid in book selection, as well as links to online bookstores which carry
the titles. This is a service provided by CFD Online.
- Computational Gasdynamics, CFD Books
- A comparison of most textbooks in computational gasdynamics. The list is
maintained by Culbert B. Laney as a part of the web site for his book Computational
Gasdynamics. It is a very nice compilation that contains small reviews
of all books and information about which topics they cover.
- Advanced Topics in Aerodynamics, Reference Desk
- Many short reviews of books related to aerodynamics. Includes several CFD
books. Very nice!
- CFD Books List
- A summary of available CFD textbooks. The list is not actively maintained
anymore and it is getting a bit outdated.
Journals
These are journals that often publish CFD related articles. Most of the
sites only have table of contents available online. However, sometimes you can
find abstracts and even full papers. The list below is divided into different
fields in order to make it easier to locate journals within your own area of
interest.
Computational Fluid Dynamics
- Journal of Computational Physics
- Abstracts for all papers published in JCP. Full papers can be bought directly
online.
- International Journal of Computational Fluid Dynamics
- Covers most areas of CFD. Has table of contents and abstracts for the most
recent issues available online. Paying subscribers have full-text access.
- International Journal for Numerical Methods in Fluids
- A journal focused on CFD and numerics. Often has FEM related papers. Table
of contents and abstracts are available freely only. Full-text costs money.
- Theoretical and Computational Fluid Dynamics
- A Springer journal focused on the theoretical side of CFD and fluid dynamics.
Has table of contents and abstracts available online. Paying subscribers
have full-text access.
- Computers & Fluids
- Covers most areas of CFD. Has table of contents available freely online.
To get full-text you have to pay.
- CFD International / CFD Journal
- An international journal published by the Japan Society of Computational
Fluid Dynamics. It is quite new and covers most areas of CFD. Most authors
are still from Asia. Has table of contents and abstracts available freely
online.
- Computing and Visualization in Science
- A Springer journal that often publishes CFD related papers. You can find
table-of-contents and abstracts available freely online.
Fluid Dynamics
- Annual Review of Fluid Mechanics
- Has table of contents and abstracts for all articles in the the most recent
issues. If you are a subscriber you can also register and get access to full-text
articles. This is one of the most prestigious publications in the field of
fluid dynamics and if you find a recent article about your subject here you
will probably not be disappointed. Most articles are long, fairly complete
and they are written by authorities in the field.

- Table of contents and abstracts for the most recent issues.
- Physics of Fluids
- Table of contents, abstracts available directly online. If you pay you
can also get access to full-text articles.
- International Journal of Fluid Dynamics
- The first electronic journal about fluid dynamics. They haven't published
that many articles in the last years.
- European Journal of Mechanics B/Fluids
- Table of contents available online.
- Fluid Dynamics Research
- Has table of contents and abstracts freely available online. Full-text
costs money.
- Journal of Turbulence
- A new online journal published by the Institute of Physics. Offers free
access to all new papers for 30days from the date of publication - nice!
Experimental Fluid Dynamics
- Experiments in Fluids
- Focused on experimental techniques in fluids. Has table of contents and
abstracts freely available online. If you are a subscriber you can also access
full-text articles.
- Experimental Thermal and Fluid Science
- Publishes articles related to experimental work in heat transfer, thermodynamics
and fluid dynamics. Has table of contents available online.
- Flow Measurement and Instrumentation
- Covers most aspects of flow measurement techniques. Has table of contents
available online.
Numerical Methods
- International Journal of Computational Methods
- A new journal on computational methods.
- International Journal of Numerical Methods for Heat & Fluid Flow
- Table of contents and subscription information. Subscribers can also access
full-text articles.
- SIAM - Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics
- Publishes several journals related to numerical methods. For example SIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics, SIAM Journal on Numerical Analysis and SIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis. Has table of contents and information
about recently accepted articles for all their journals.
- ETNA - Electronic Transactions on Numerical Analysis
- An electronic journal for the publication of significant new and important
developments in numerical analysis and scientific computing.
- Electronic Journal of Differential Equations
- A strictly electronic publication dealing with all aspects of differential
equations (o.d.e.'s, p.d.e.'s, integral equations, functional differential
equations, etc.), and their applications.
